Beginner Piano
If you are trying to find for beginners piano or keyboard lessons it is possible that touched a piano before or you might be a returning student who had a few lessons when younger and would like to take it up again. Even if you have never touched a keyboard in your life, the way you are taught will remain the same.
You might find that there are a lot of different methods to teach the keyboards or piano but generally they will all have to teach you the same basic material. Many students these days will be practising on keyboards instead of the normal piano but for a newcomer the methods will be similar. The aim of the majority of beginners is to be able to play a little in many styles, they want to be able to perform classical, jazz, pop etc and most would like to be able to play by ear and also read a little music too. In many cases the beginner will also be interested in accompanying other instrumentalists or singers.
This may seem a little ambitious for a beginner but you really need to know your direction right from the very start. Within a relatively short period you will find that you can achieve all of the above.

Learn To Play Piano
There is a method of teaching piano that I really like which is used by a home study course called ‘Piano For All’. The fist thing they teach is how to find the notes on the keyboard. These same notes are then shown to you on the musical stave so you can go about getting used to them. You are then taught what these notes look like on the musical stave. Then you are shown an easy tune which is to be played using all of the fingers, one for each key. The melody is written out so you can see it and there is also a diagram of the piano keyboard to remind you where the notes in question are
All this takes just a very short time. Next you are taught the three notes you will need to enable you to play a basic chord. You are given an easy rhythm to play the chord to. Next you are told to duplicate the first note of the chord with your left hand but an octave lower, this gives you a bass note. Add a rhythm to this and suddenly you find yourself playing authentic sounding piano.

When playing this chord with its bass line becomes easy you can then go onto learning a few more simple chords. Now you have learned a few chords you can play them changing from one to another in order and you will realize that you are playing genuine piano songs or accompaniments. Learning this method is great for the confidence and leaves you wanting to learn more. Moving on through the beginners course you are shown some more rhythms and a few more tunes and chords. In no time at all you find yourself getting better as a piano player and musician and with each lesson the playing sounds more and more authentic.
This is actually one of the better beginner piano courses available at the moment as it teaches you many styles including pop, classical, rock jazz and gospel. It also teaches you how to read music and play by ear and as such is very effective.
