Getting the Perfect Dining Set For the Home

February 25th, 2010 Categories: All

A dining set is an especially reasonable item to apply some extra money to. Around that dining table is where family moments happen, where little accomplishments are celebrated, as well as where friends are permitted to feel welcome. Remember, though, when you pay for your new dining table, you’ll want some cash for groceries as well. Each of the dining sets reviewed below is priced as a 7-piece set and includes a cherry wood finish, but they vary in style and price, so ideally one of them is going to work for you. A nice item for you to consider is the Black End Table.

Ethan Allen is a well known furniture company, and they routinely deliver high-end home furnishings at very reasonable prices. In Ethan Allen’s case, though, “reasonable” does not quite equal “cheap” – it simply assures you that you are getting your money’s worth. This company’s Maison dining collection evokes 18th century France yet should last well into your grandchildren’s era. The Maison cherry wood dining table includes a scalloped apron, cabriole legs, and a plank-effect tablescape.  The matching wheat-back chairs are quite French provincial in manner, with delicately carved bundles of wheat comprising the back rest. The cabriole legs compliment table, while the padded seat is offered in fabric or leather for well-dressed comfort.  The Maison is a lovely and sturdily made dining set, and while the $3600 price tag for the table along with six chairs could seem extreme, the Maison collection is worth every Ben Franklin.

If you would like a good dining set, but can’t afford such a substantial price, it could be that Meijer may allow you to occupy your dining room in a more economical manner. The Dixie 7 piece dining set uses dark wood inlay accents and a lovely cherry finish. The legs are slim and angled, and the corner edging gives a modern flavor to this very traditional dining ensemble. Four identical side chairs and two arm chairs all include classy rail chair backs and extremely comfortable microfiber seats which look smart and clean up easily. For around $850, this set will probably blend nicely with several different decors and can look fantastic with a Christmas ham on top. Also, take a look at the Black Round End Table.

JC Penney completes our selection with the Cameron Place dining set, which is an attractive and solid mid-level dining set. The 7-piece ensemble has a cherry finish 72″ table which could extend to 90″, two arm chairs and four side chairs, all of which come with sturdy polyester upholstery and eye-catching crisscross backs.  The entire set is made out of rubberwood, a kind of hardwood found in Southeast Asia which has some exceptional density and tensile strength.  $1600 will deliver this set into your house, and then you can gather around it for years to come.

If you are shopping for a good dining set, one of those above is likely to answer your needs. As with any home furnishings, you really should get the best furnishings you can afford – just make sure you can truly afford it. You may also want to look into the Round End Table.
